MAC-PAC Demographics April, 2005

Well, 55 people responded to my request for 'data'. I believe that's about 31%. Of the 55 respondents, 26 provided complete birthdates, 2 provided a birth month/year, and 27 provided birth year. Of those providing month/year or year only, 13 also provided Astrological sign. The data were entered into excel and for those providing the complete date, the excel year() function gave me the year of birth. I subtracted the year from 2005 to produce the age. I needed a consistent mechanism for age computation. The following histogram shows the age distribution. Mean and Median were virtually identical (48.70 for the mean, 48.50 for the median). Standard Deviation was 10.29

What does this mean? Approximately 66.6% of the sample is between the ages of 38 and 59 (mean ± 1 standard deviation). The data appears to be normal (I use that term to describe the DATA, not the respondents), but I ran a probablility plot just because I'm anal retentative. If anyone cares, here is is. This shows the data are normal.

Lastly, for those providing the complete birthdate or astrological sign, I created a pie chart.

Another thread started regarding the age at which people first purchased a BMW bike. I captured some data and here is it.

Disrespectfully sumbitted this 26 day of April in the year 2005.
