PHILADELPHIA AREA
I-476 (Blue Route) southbound past RT 30 (Villanova exit). As the highway bends to the left there is often a patrol car there on the left median just across from the south on-ramp from RT 30, well hidden until you are on top of him, facing back up the road with hand-held radar and chase cars set up.
I-95 at the airport. North of the 293(?) exit, south of the Airport exit southbound. Motorcycle cop sitting in the median between two No U-Turn signs. Hand held radar. Very well hidden. He and I wave at each other often.
Rt 309 southbound, 1 mile south of the Butler Pike exit as the highway bends to the right, sits off to the side. No way to see until too late.
Pa Tpk eastbound after the King of Prussia exit, just before the Plymouth Meeting exit.
Be real careful on Rt 23 2 miles east of Morgantown ( from the light near Twin Valley High School) and in the town. The speed limit drops from 55 to 45 to 35. There are stripes on the road in front of the firehouse in town. The cop sits there and writes lots of tickets. The cops also have an unmarked white Ford sedan with which they patrol the stretch on 23.
Mile 89.5 north and south bound Pa Turnpike Northeast extension just short of the Mt.`Pocono exit. They are there a lot.
On Rt. 100 in Bally, there are several sets of paint stripes. It is
VERY common for these to be monitored by the town cop.

I frequently see police patrolling or sitting partially hidden on Rt 82 south of 322, anywhere for that 2 mile stretch. They used to hide on the road in the All Souls Cemetary (It's a cornfield with no markers only a couple crosses) but since someone kept spreading nails in there the partol cars don't use this spot anymore. Just the other night I saw a Squid pulled over, Luckily we were able to see the lights on the patrol car way ahead so we were going the correct speed. The speed limit is 35 mph most of the way but there is a short stretch of 45 mph. South of there I cannot report.

US Route 30 bypass heading *east* from Pa Rte 10. The first overpass
is Airport Road. There is no eastbound exit or westbound entrance here,
only westbound exit and eastbound entrance. Three places that the state
police sit with instant on radar for eastbound traffic are:
1. On the overpass, hidden as you head east by the slight pitch of
the overpass.
2. On the eastbound exit ramp on the right just as you go under Airport
Road.
3. Approx. 1 mile east of the underpass hidden deep in the woods.
Real hard to see.
Chances of getting a ticket here if you are speeding is much better than
the winning the lottery. I'd estimate 1 in 20 max., based on
my daily commute.
Heading *west* on US Rte 30 bypass, slow as you approach the exit for the
Chester County Airport. They are usually clocking eastbound but sometimes
they sit on the westbound exit for the westbound traffic. Keep it under
65 from here to the end - about 3 miles. They also camp out at the
end where the 4-lane splits and then merges with US Business 30.

Route 100 South, just north of Route 202. Police hide behind
underpasses.
Route 401, cops hide behind bridge where the Pa Turnpike crosses 401 just
west of Bacton Hill.

I consider the town of Wind Gap to be one general location for enhancing local revenue via the police department. I haven't noticed many people stopped for speed violations as much as red light (the kind that control traffic) violations- including both my sons. The police adhere strictly to the law- if you enter that intersection on a yellow, you damn well better be through the intersection before it turns red. I have also noticed patrol cars parked on side streets observing the flow of traffic. Traffic in Wind Gap can get heavy, especially around evening rush hour and on Fridays.
